The
Vision for the Gathering – Networking the Next Generation
The original vision
has been to create the kind of event that where we could gather our
youth groups and youth leaders together each year, so they can begin
to build relationships and learn to network together like our
pastors do.
Once the connection has been made, and the vision for them doing
missions has been cast, I can see them going out together to do
mission work, both here and around the world.
We want to present an inspiring mission message each time we
gather.
We also felt that this kind of event would provide an opportunity
for Youth Leaders to get together and exchange ideas that have
helped them create dynamic youth groups. We all have things that
have worked, and have seen a few things that have not gone over very
well. This is exactly the kind of experience that needs to be
exchanged. Each time we gather, I would like to see the leaders get
together where this kind of symposium can take place between.
We have longed to instill in our youth leaders the kind of identity
that comes from belonging to a network, like our pastors have, so
they can see the benefits of being part of something bigger than
themselves. For this reason, we would like to move this event around
the State so we can learn more about where we are coming from.
PARAMETERS
The basic parameters for these gatherings are:
It is important that our gatherings to be as accessible as possible,
which means they should be as inexpensive to put on and free of
charge to those who attend.
We should try to meet for about 24 hours at least once a year so our
youth can connect.
After a time of worship, we would
provide speakers that can cast vision into our young people so they
can see what God is doing in the earth, what opportunities exist for
them, and what they need to do to press in and prepare for it.
