TOUR DETAILS

Come spend a day driving through the towns and villages where some of the greatest revivals ever held on American soil took place. Using details taken from the autobiography of Evangelist Charles G. Finney, you will follow a route that will take you to the very places he wrote about. You will come away with a better understanding of what took place during the first few years of the Finney-Nash partnership. This will inspire you to press in for revival in this generation.

- See the homesteads where Finney and Nash once lived.

- Drive past the school houses where Finney preached.

- Visit villages that were turned upside down by deep conviction and the Spirit of prayer.

- Visit places where revival is greatly needed today!

The stories and related sites have been researched and documented by Pastor Penn Clark. Maps and directions, as well as descriptions of what took place have been written to assist you in your own research. This guided tour will also become available on CD so you can follow directions and listen to the story while you drive.

This circular tour allows you to start at various  places and end up back where you began. It can be done in a day, or broken down into two major sections. The northern tour covers Jefferson County and parts of St. Lawrence and Lewis Counties. The Southern tour takes place mostly in Oneida County.

We encourage you to get a carload of interested people together to spend the day in prayer for various needs in your lives and those you  care about.

This would be an excellent way for a church board or small group to spend the day discussing the nature of revival and how it applies to their lives, church, and country.

Personally directed tours led by Penn can be arranged, especially for bus tours.

It would be helpful if you read the first few chapters of Finney's autobiography before you go. Most local libraries and Christian bookstores have copies of it.

There are restaurants all along the way, but we recommend that you use this time to fast and pray.

Before you taking the tour you should read the descriptions explaining what you can see can expect to see in these places the tour will take you. It would also be advisable to re-read the first fourteen chapters of Finney’s biography to become acquainted with the story or to refresh your memory. These first chapters of his memoirs can be read on-line by on the Memoirs tab. You can purchase the full version from most Christian bookstores or find a copy in your local public library.

Secondly, be prepared to have some of your first impressions about Finney changed and even your concept about revival adjusted. The more time I spent getting to know him, beyond just reading other people's books about him, the more I liked him. He was not like the man I first thought he was. Then, the more I handled the fruit of this revival, the less I liked the characterizations that are often given to revival, in order to justify the extremes we sometimes go to today.

In the early 1800's this part of New York State was ablaze with the greatest revival that ever held on American soil.

Come take a tour that will revive your vision for another great move of God for this generation.
